Page 1 of 2 Many riders believe that Advanced Riding is for Sports Bike riders who want to scream around the countryside at mach 3 or luggage-laden around-the-world-in-8-days endurance riders! The simple answer to this is that anyone can benefit from advanced training, our Instructors ride a variety of machines so whether you've got a super-sports, a tourer, road bike or a custom bike you won't feel out of place. We are all seasoned bikers, so whatever you ride, whatever you wear, whatever your background, you'll be made to feel welcome. You will not be pushed or encouraged to ride faster than the existing speed limits or forced into riding 100s of miles a day to prove a point. Attention and concentration levels decrease rapidly with high speed and high mileage, Kickstart teaches Advanced riding in tailor-made sessions to suit you the rider. The Advanced rider has been described as "quietly efficient" and "unobtrusive". They always seem to be in the right place at the right time, just when the traffic opens up. They make progress smoothly and seemingly effortlessly and as such tend to enjoy their ride no matter what the conditions. Advanced Training will develop both your observational and mental skills as well as improving the 'mechanics' of your ride. You will be more in tune with your machine, treating it sympathetically to get the best performance. In addition to the improved safety aspects, advanced riding is meant to be fun! We regularly have riders asking us about the weaknesses of the bikes they've bought, "This bloody thing just won't go round right-handers" or " Can't do a U-turn, terrible on small roundabouts great in a straight line though!" or "These tyres are rubbish, anything I can get to improve the road-holding?" or " Must be a problem with the bike coz smaller bikes keep overtaking me on the twistys!" Any of these sound familiar? Identifying our own shortfalls and mistakes are the first steps to having a better attitude to our riding. We all make mistakes, the secret is learning from them! Kickstart provides all it's advanced students with a detailed questionnaire, answer it honestly and you'll be surprised at how much your everyday riding will benefit from a few 'tweaks' here and there! The Courses will take in Town and City Riding, Countryside Riding, Motorway and Dual Carriageway riding and slow speed control. The Courses are designed to be attended in manageable sessions. Some companies start early, finish late and get you through in a day. We won't make you get up at the crack of dawn, concentrate all day and then ride home late and tired! At the end of the Course you may be happy in the knowledge that your riding has dramatically improved, your machine suffers less from wear and tear and you are a lot safer on the road. To gain a recognised Advanced Riders Qualification students can choose to take an assortment of examinations, ( this is independent from Kickstart ), RoSPA, DIA, BMF and IAM tests can be arranged for you. Once qualified many Insurance Companies offer a discounted rate to Advanced Riders. Normal ratios of max. 2 Riders to 1 Instructor ( excluding Group Discounted Rides and Tours)
